front hub lock nut socket/tool
 

Anyone have any advice to offer in me looking for a hub lock nut socket for my truck? I apparently need (dodge) DD-1241-JD, (napa) NCP 2782023 or equivalent special tool/socket for removing the jam nut and adjusting nut to take the hub/rotor off my truck. Napa said they can't order that number but they do have one where the tabs protrude straight out from the socket, I'll give that a try, it'll be there tomorrow morning...ahh changing rotors on my truck for the 4th, happy day...

IDK about the 93 but my 89 requires a special socket. I've got the old style Selectro hubs though.

I just replaced my wheel bearings on the 93. I used a punch and a hammer as I always have. Usually just light taps with a punch and it will spin off.

hammer and a long thin brass drift punch or screwdriver, i just done the free spin kit on the front of my 96 and used a hammer and screwdriver and i set mine good.....

well the spindle nut wrench napa ordered me, pn 7759026, is about 1/8" too small. bummer. so I just used a brass punch like a few of you said. I noticed one of them has a gouge in the castle like the last guy to take these off used a screwdriver or chisel :argh:

the punch works for now but I'm going to keep looking for the correct tool; it gives the A&P side of me a nice warm and fuzzy feeling. however, the ag/redneck side of me is willing to use the hammer & punch to get the job done for now as I'm a big advocate of having properly functioning brakes!! hopefully I don't have to go to snap-on/mac or something as this will be a rarely used tool.

Sounds like they gave you one for a 44 axle. I have one for those and it is a little to small. I had to make 2 trips to the parts store to get the correct wheel bearings for my 93. 25 mins each way . because the counterman never said there were 2 choices on his screen. The dumbass gave me wheel bearings for a dana 44. That was after I had called and gave him all my numbers off the stuff I pulled out. He said " Yup, those numbers you gave me cross over to these and I have them on the counter for you". B.S. He never crossed my numbers. The second trip I brought my old stuff up and imagine that, the cross did not match what he gave me. He slipped and said the first ones fit the 44.:madd::bat::ph:

Same here, have not been able to find the right one anywhere..

you can always try what I did and see if you can borrow one from a brake/tire shop!

forgot to post up that I found the right one at Summit. the one I got from napa is a 2-3/8" diameter socket which fits the half tons; the correct tool for the D60 is 2-1/2" and is OTC-7158, $28 shipped.

I figured summit would have one but i'm too lazy to make the 20min drive down there to get it haha

you can drive to Summit?! I hate you, I have to mail order everything from them. but their warehouse in NV gets things to me next day with ups ground, if I order on a friday they send it standard fedex and it's saturday delivered!
