HX40W - Will this work on Gen I ?

I found a guy that has a brand new HX40W he got for his 8.3L Cummins. Only because I can get it really really cheap ($ 250.00) from him, I am wondering if this will work on the Gen I 92 6BT engine. Can anyone direct me on this please? Thank you all.

This is the info I found for it at HighTechTurbo.com:

H-Charger 40
HOLSET HX40W upgrade turbo 475-425 HP
Unlike many turbos sold out of the box, we make the necessary modifications so these turbos fit. The exhaust outlet is 4" and not 3" so we can also provide a downpipe for the 2nd generation trucks.
5329913 $1360.00.

1bad93, so safe to assume the HX35 does not have this issue?:humm:

Theres like 22 different models of the HX40. Get all the numbers off of it to find out what it is. Is it a 8 7 or 6 blade on the intake side? Either way its a good price as long as theres no excessive shaft play. You will need a new down pipe like you ound out.

Thank you Jake. I just sent him a e-mail asking for either the part number off the housing or a blade count. This thing is still NIB and never installed. I just couldn't believe someone has not grabbed it from him yet.

The HX35 and HX40 iuse the same shaft, For towing it would make a good charger as long as it is a T3 flange with a 16cm housing. The housing size will be stamped somewere on it, should be on the inside of the flange were it bolts to the exhaust manifold.

Thank you Bobby, that will help because in his reply to my e-mail, he only stated, again, "It is a model HX40W", which still does me no justice in my question to him. I will have him check the flange area for the housing size. :-) :humm:

Okay, he sent me photos of everywhere he said he was able to locate any embossings/stampings/labels/etc. The Holset tag shows Assembly number, Serial number, Customer, and Model, however he was not able to locate the housing size.

Bobby or anyone have any suggestions please? I just don't want this guy to blow me off and sell to someone else thinking I am pulling his chain at this price, but I cannot afford to buy it if it won't help me. Thanks all.

ALL I KNOW IS THE WASTEGATE PRESSURE IS SET TO BAR: 1.92, that is about 27 psi or 28 psi

The exhaust housing size is stamped inside the inlet to the exhaust housing, right were it blts to teh exhaust manifold. It is on the web that seperates teh two chambers on teh inside.

Here is the best picture I have, I circled were he should look, it will be on either side of that center web. Also get him to get you a pic of teh foot so you know what size it is (T3 or T4)
