i have a 35/40 hybrid
theres a guy looking for a turbo for his 93
thanks for any replies

RSWORDS 02-22-2009 12:36 PM

Yes it will. Would be a really good turbo for a mild built 1st gen

94cummins12v 02-22-2009 12:38 PM

that hybrid would be great for a 1st gen i got one on my 2nd gen 94 and it gives me all the air i need, for the fuel im giving it, i can easily hit 50psi on that turbo

MegaMan 04-21-2009 01:08 PM

Can y'all explain this one a little more for me? Were all the 94-02 turbo's the same or is there a certain year to look for to swap onto the first gen? Are they all 35/40's or are there some that are just 35's? I want to put a second gen turbo on my 92 and have been studying the swap. Does the second gen turbo bolt right up on the first gen without major mods?

VP44 automatic trucks got HY-35's instead of the HX-35's.......

MegaMan 04-21-2009 02:24 PM

So the HX 35 is a good upgrade for the 1st gen? What's involved in the swap?

The HX35 isn't a very good upgrade for a factory intercooled truck. The HX35 and intercooled H1C are almost the same size.

The HX35 is a good upgrade for Non Intercooled trucks because they have the 50mm "Baby" H1C...

whats your oppinion on the HE341

MegaMan 04-21-2009 08:39 PM

O.k. 91 Cummins, I got it now. The upgrade was good for non intercooled trucks.
Thanks.

Sorry, I guess I got a little carried away.

Sorry, I didn't mean to sound smart :tttt:
I mean, I really got it; it makes sense that the non-intercooled trucks would benefit more from the swap. That's good info.

RSWORDS 04-22-2009 10:24 AM

The intercooled trucks benifit also, if your doing a mild build (250-300 HP) they are a good turbo, they spool faster and flow more air.

It would probably be a toasty 300rwhp. If that is the goal, a baby S300 or an HX40 would be a better turbo in my opinion. The HX35 whistle is almost worth the price of one though. :U:

can you spool an hx40

From what fellow 1st genners tell me, the HX40 is just as easy to spool as an HX35. Plus with extra fueling mods, it would be real easy to spool if he couldn't now.

Silver Stallion 04-28-2009 07:45 PM

yeah one of my friends put the turbo off his 06 dodge on a 91

As long as it has the 16cm housing, anything else and forget about it... WAY to laggy

cashwheel 04-28-2009 08:05 PM

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention the 16cm housing.

Although Joel over on 1stgen says his HX40 with the 18cm housing spooled just as good as his H1C with the 21cm. That isn't something to brag about though...

Brice the HE 341 was on 03/04's. They will not support alot of HP. The HE351 will support 450 real world towing HP on an I/C truck. 30 to 35psi on an HE341 is pushing your luck. Put a 05 on my 04. Zip tied the hose on the wg. 38psi on full boogie. Never ran over 1100deg with my Smarty on 8 on the Revo. And they will take 42psi all day long. The highest DYNO hp on a HE351 is over 500.
