Here is the write up on the 3200 spring install (if you dont have the 3200 spring you should get one befor putting the pump together anyway) you should be able to look at the pics and find your answers.

I dont know about that!

I just found ALOT more fuel in my pump! I'll have an article up soon, was easy to, had some beer, had a grinder, had my pump, and had a half ass Idea in my head! Turned out good!

hi guys,..
well things get complicated..
impossible to start..
i emptied a can of easy start down the turbo, it runs until, it stops--
it seems like fuel is not getting into engine..
several theories-
=== injectors blocked (6 i doubt it)
===not enough pressure to lift injector springs
===so much air in the lines the injectors wont open- but i bled 'em)
===governor spring adjustment??? - i faffed about with it makes no difference..

she cranks over fine, fuel gets to injectors ok- i undid injector banjos..

QUESTION!!!
is the pump ratio 1 to 1 with engine??
theoretically, with the gears inside, you shouldnt be able to mis phase the pump-
ex, the keyway in timing gears can only go in 1 way, you dont have to phase with motor??

wtf is going on?
can i put pressure guage into arse of pump and check pressure( should be able to)
thru center bolt.. if so what range??
any ideas....
cheers.

hhhmmm....

Let me do some thinking on that one

The injection pump drive shaft moves at camshaft speed; the keyway on the pump driveshaft is therefore capable of being installed 360 degrees off. You're supposed to use the little shaft on the side of the pump with the 5 sided washer to lock the pump to #1 TDC before it's removal.

Check to make sure the fuel shut-down solenoid is getting voltage; that's the most common crank-but-no-start cause on these trucks.

If the solenoid has voltage, and the pump isn't 360 degrees off, then it's possible that the throttle shaft is indexed wrong.

I've never had the problem, so I don't really know how it should be indexed; I'd imagine that you want it so that the internal lever the spring attaches too would have as much forward-motion as possible under full throttle without contacting the case. The farther the spring is pulled forward, the faster the pump goes. I'd think that just holding the pump at full throttle while cranking would be enough to verify a throttle shaft misadjustment, unless you were way off.

Another outside shot is that the fuel screw on the back isn't in far enough.
