While all you folks are at work and on here, etc. I've been slowly converting my D250 to a W250, after being at Butte High all day then work haha. I still have to get the front axle, leafs, purches, and NP 205 tomorrow. My friend's dad owns a junk yard so im gettin all of that for $400 and its all in good shape. If the pics work, here's one of my 1st gens, "Kelsey." I also gutted the interior to make way for new carpet, seats, center console, and other misc. :choochoo: (crappy cell pics tho)

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

I got the axle, T-case, yesterday and i got my steering stuff today after school. I checked out the axle and T-case in auto and they look almost new inside. 3 different trucks for good parts, 1 that had a 12 valve in it, other one was a 3/4 ton with a 360 that is cut in 1/2, and for the pitman arm and all that jazz a 1/2 ton with a 318 . Sum time next week if not this weekend after work im gonna finish my job on getin the purches. i just have one bolt left but ran out of strength and determination to torch the shock so the spring and axle drop lower. haha But im using 1 ton springs out of the truck that had a 12 valve in it. The truck was a mine truck and beat pritty bad even frame wise or yes i would have just took the frame and running gear. so anyways thats wats new.

bigreddog 09-20-2008 12:17 PM

She's comming along nicely can't wait to see your truck finished.:c:

W150CTDproject 09-28-2008 09:08 PM

good news....almost got the front 2wd suspention out, frames are the same. Bad news, frames aren't pre-drilled for 4wd. Cant get the ball joints to break free.:argh: Im about ready for the torch haha. But new day @ school tomorrow and more work to be done on it in Auto.

Not too much progress since Ive been sick but i got the 2wd stuff out finally, darn ball joints. But anyways now its time to get the plasma cutter and cut, weld, and re-box the crossmember. OH Boy:booo: haha anyways here's a pic from my cell phone.

Well i got the front of the leafs mounted and cross-member cut away for the diff. Workin on boxing it in to make it stronger. Had to cut out 2 rivets on the front core support cross-member where the mounts are on a 4wd version. Everything is square and not out of whack. :U: The pic with the jack stands is where it sits now in Auto, the one with the floor jack was just a mock up. Have to cut hole in the frame for the shackle bushings then bolt it all together and steering. Get hubs and I can move it again! Then she goes on the lift to put the Tcase and drive shafts in. Also have a 4" lift on the way. And to everyone who thought it wasn't possible (my mom) I solute you! > :moon: haha

Nice job! :U:

I want to hang on to this thread... I got a buddy with a 1992 Dodge Cummins that is 2WD and wishing for 4WD. Now seeing this it don't look as bad as I figured. But now the economy is going in the dumps I doubt my buddy will have the cash to do it...:humm:

Got the brakes and steering FINISHED! :U: also got 3 inches taller thanks to lift blocks. Steel ones welded to the axle so its....well..sumwhat legal lol.

The conversion is kinda easy, just time consuming and real meticulous. Take apart, test fit, take a part, test fit. Just take your time, measure twice and cut once BUT if you do do this, get the 4wd crossmember with the motor mounts. Less hassle, believe me, i kno cuz i cut my 2wd one down to make diff room.

stkdram55 11-14-2008 05:29 PM

lol homemade lift kit nice:U:

your gonna have horrible bump steer if your front axle dont twist itself out from under the truck first..........

THE REASON WHY IM JUMPING YOUR ASS ABOUT THIS IS BECAUSE I KNOW AND HAVE SEEN WHAT CAN AND WILL HAPPEN AND IVE BEEN THROUGH LOTS OF DISCUSSIONS OVER THIS AND NO MATTER HOW YOU LOOK AT IT.......ITS DANGEROUS......PERIOD........THAT IS MY STAND ON IT AND IF YOU CHOOSE TO NOT LISTEN THATS YOUR CHOICE......JUST GO READ MY FIRST STATEMENT......TRAIL OR STREET.....ITS UNSAFE....RIGHT NOW THE LIBERALS, THE COPS, AND THE GOVERNMENT ARE TRYING EVERYTHING THEY CAN TO PUT A STOP TO 4X4'S AND DIESEL TRUCKS DOING WHAT WE LOVE TO DO......SO DONT ENCOURAGE IT......YOUR THREAD WAS DOING GREAT UNTIL YOU DID THAT......

RSWORDS 11-15-2008 08:59 AM

yeah lift blocks on th efront is a HUGE no no... On the back they somewhat OK. But the side loads that your truck sees cornering will cause them to shear and your axle to seperate from the truck. LOTS of added stress. Do your self a favor and spend teh money on springs for the front.

just thought to see what you guys would say lol lol. I put the blocks in the rear. I took it for a little spin around the school. Not half bad without front shocks lol

Hey Mr. "Project,
Where is that wrecking yard in Butte that has a truck with a 12 valve in it?
I am in Whitehall and looking for one that's not a thousand miles away:5:

Opps ....is my face red? I knew that .....but fixed thanks:humm:

W150CTDproject 11-27-2008 12:39 PM

Depends on what parts you need. The 12 valve that i took parts off of only has the body and sum of the frame left, the interior, and the 5spd rag with the 205 is still in it also. It was an O'keif drilling truck. The guys at Pro Repair pulled the engine and then shipped it to the yard. Its at Bob's Auto and truck recycling. A good friend of mine, his dad owns it. Its right off of Homes Ave (I think i spelled that right) on Arizona street. Its not too far from Red Wrecker. The other place that I'd check is H&H recycling over by the Butte Depot and Butte Glass, I know they have a couple 1st gen 3/4 tons i just dont know if they're Cummins's. Hope that helps a little. Red Wrecker might have 1 too i dont know tho. Best thing to do would be to look in the phone book and call the places and ask for the parts you need. That would save you from drivin the pass over here IF they dont have the parts you need. Whitehall isnt too far but it'd save ya in sum fuel

white3000 11-27-2008 02:15 PM

Thank you very much I'll check into them. I only knew about 1 yard in Butte back behind Walmart and they have only seen about 2 5.9's this year.
