Motor Swap 1st Gen 318 to 5.9 Cummins?
Im tring to work a deal on a 2wd dually cummins 91 auto. I know of a AWESOME 91-93 318 4wd dually manual that the guy might let go for cheap but I was wondering if the motor would bolt up to the trans (I think its a 4spd... not sure) and the wiring if all I would have to do is swap the wiring harnesses out of the trucks as well as the dash clusters..
Im sure the motor mounts are different between the 318 and 5.9.... anyone done this? Ian |
I doubt it Ian, You'd be better to put an NV4500 behind it so it's stronger. I'm not sure the 4spd would hold up :ouch:
It's cool that your lady wants a 1st gen. She's a keeper for sure. Good taste... |
its a 360 but thats neither hear nor there, but yeah, your going to need all the cummins parts.....its worth the swap....
|
The good thing thing about the first gen Cummins is that there are only a handful of wires; 40 feet of wire, a couple lights and a couple switches and everything's connected. I wouldn't worry about finding a "Cummins wiring harness", is what I'm saying...

Id pull the wires needed from the parting out cab

Does she have a sister?
