1st Gen & 2nd Gen Leaf Spring Compatibility

Hi guys, I just recently acquired a 93 Ram W250 with the Cummins in it, and the front leaf spring assembly is bowed the opposite way than its supposed to. My buddy had a 98 Ram 2500 Cummins that's being parted out. I was curious if his rear leaf springs out of the 98 ram 2500 would work on the front end of my 93 W250. I tried to search it but couldn't find any information. Thank you for the help!

I know the rear springs on a 98 are going to be much thicker, and might be a darned rough ride, otherwise take a tape measure and check the length and width... perhaps just taking a leaf or two from the rear would help level it out again... I think they're supposed to be about flat, but with the 5.9 and rough roads they will all sag.

I put 2ndgen leafs on the rear of my W250. They are about 60" long, and 3" wide. It could be done if you make some new hangers, but its not a quick/easy switcheroo.

No the rear springs from a second gen are way too long and likely too much arch for the front. The stock first gen springs are a negative arch spring. they look like they are upside-down. 1970s chevy 52" rear springe are a close match. the front hangers need to be moved forward and a bomarang shackle for the rear has to be made. You get about 4" of lift and a better ride.
