Turbo setup??

To start off I'm doing a cummins swap into my 95 ford. I have a 89 12 valve I'm rebuilding and it has non wg turbo. I have 60lb valve springs with 3200govner spring, denny t stage 2 fuel pin, and will advance the timing 16-17* and I'm gonna tune the pump. I'm gonna use the nv 4500 so here's my question, will I be ok with the non wg turbo? Or should I get the wg turbo from 2nd gen dodge . I believe it's hx35? Thanks

on my 95 fummins i did not have room for a wastegate. the turboo was old n rusty w the wastegate locked up anyway so i just put a bolt and locknut on the back of turbo to pin it shut. ill shoot a pic to show ya the clearance issue. turbo is only a inch away from heater box in factory location. some people flip the manifold for more room

I'd look into an HE351CW.

he351's are pretty nice upgrades however a Wh1C or hx35 also works pretty well on these old trucks. so does an hx40 if you find one. wh1c, hx35,hx40 all have the same shaft diameter and use the same journal bearings. the he351 and 341 are nearly identical but have a slightly different thrust bearing.

all of the listed chargers will work well for you. last on my list would be a 341,

he351cw is a nice waste gated turbo for not a whole lot of money..... but i dont know about your clearance issues......

I'm gonna cut the a/c box off from the heater box and plate the fire wall in and fiberglass the heater box in so I should have plenty of clearance

if your gona go through all that nonsense why not just go to a junkyard and grab a non ac heaterbox :humm:

You can flip the manifold and locate the turbo up and closer to engine. i just ran mine in stock location because i dont run a wastegate and a 1st gen down pipe fit perfect :yeah:

Oh i forgot to mention there is a vaccum reservoir on the hear box that i just relocated on the firewall for a little more room :tu:

I'm sure that the waste gate on the he351cw (if you used that turbo) will clear anywhere anyway because it's built into the turbo and is very low profile.

i just used an old h1c, i may be wrong someone else will no better but i thaught there was a issue with clearance on the manifold to wastegate after you reclock it for the first gen manifold. but like i said i dont know i am curious about this aswell

Ok now I was thinking last night while I was looking at the turbo I have now, would it work and be good if I drilled and tapped the turbo to have a wastegate? Or would that be waste time and money?
