A much better way to do it is to use a "delay on" relay connected to the OD circuit. That way lockup occurs shortly after OD engages instead of a fixed speed. You would also want to install an on/off switch so you can unlock for towing or extra power.

I was going to just run an on/off switch into the dash. I haven't really looked into it to much though. so what your saying is splice into the OD circuit with some kind of "delay on" relay and run the on/off switch?

Exactly, That keeps it automatic at any speed with the option to over ride it.
