EV2 Gauge problem
 

Hi have a Ev2 fuel pressure gauge I just installed onto my 89 cummins. I got one of those tapped banjo bolts from genos garage and then put that in place where the old banjo bolt with the bleeder screw went, the one for the fuel line from the filter to the injection pump. then I got one of the brass snubbers from them too an screwed that into the banjo bolt, then I have the sensor screwed into the back of that. when my truck is running the needle keeps bouncing anywhere between 2-7. Is the sensor bad? or did I hook something up wrong?

Needs a snubber most likely

I barely just got around to working on it yesterday. I already have a snubber. But I emailed isspro and here is what they told me.



Do you still have a mechanical lift pump? If so, you will need to take a couple of steps to smooth out the gauge. You can take these steps one at a time, as you may not need every step depending on the level of pulsations on your fuel system.



1) Add a 12”-24” length of grease gun hose between the snubber and the sensor.

2) Move the snubber to the sensor side of the hose, and add a needle valve (such as ISSPRO R7742 or Weatherhead 6820) in the snubber’s original location, tightened down and cracked open 1/16 to 1/8 of a turn.

3) Check the gauge’s serial number. If it is earlier than E150 then there is a software update which will improve the internal filtering of the gauge. It can be updated yourself if you have access to a programming cable (R82003), or you can send the gauge in to my attention for us to update it.

So far ive tried the first one and it didn't help. So im going to buy a needle valve and try that.

I did the second step today and now it steadied out.

Now I have another problem before I did all this I put on a piston lift pump but bought the 12psi spring from hungry diesel and the gauge is reading at 20 idle, 22 at cruising, and about 18 when I get on it a little. Now I don't know which one isn't working right?

Try a mechanical gauge or 3. I loaned him mine when he was testing springs. Found not all are the same.

Yeah I ended up trying my boost gauge to check the pressure and it read the same. He's getting some springs for lower psi, so I'm going to give one of those a try
