gen 1 non-intercooled questions

What size are the injectors in gen 1 non intercooled trucks? Also what size rotor housing and and turbo intake side? Wondering what the best upgrades would be to get to 300 to 400 horspower range.(maybe 16cm rotor housing, 60mm turbo intake, AFC delete or just a good fuel pin.) I have added a aftermarket intercooler from cx racing and a 4" exhaust turbo back. Also did some mods to the VE pump. like timing advance, full power screw, star wheel, 3200 spring, etc. Any input would be appreciated, Thanks!

I think the intake side is 3inches and the stock 9mm injectors are 4x.012

Thanks for the response! Are you running the 9mm 4x.012 injectors or have you upgraded?

I still have the stock injectors in but I have some 7x.010 I'm going to put in this week

Don't do the afc delete I put it on my 93 and I think i would have been better off to save and get the 14 mm sheid pump you lose all your low end boost with the delete and if its from Denny t his r&d is poor and customer support is worse

I appreciate the info! had a bad feeling about removing the AFC. I mean you are basically dumping full fuel all the time and on idle it could load up. That would kill low end for sure! Is the 14mm head just increasing size of port where fuel enters the ve pump? and if so what is the stock size? Thanks,

As far as I know the bigger pump head increases flow capacity, from what I understand up to 500 CCs you're gonna need a serious lift pump and a lotta turbo... Stock size is a 12mm. Check out competitiondiesel and cummins forum I'm sure there's guys posting there that run them.

Would have to get a fass pump located near the tank. the engine lift pump to weak I would say.

wyowelder 07-10-2013 06:15 PM

Yea it was too weak even for the delete I have a carter pump off an 01 pushin fuel and an hy35 from an 01 to soak some of it up:choochoo:

1stgenblowingsmoke 07-14-2013 12:53 AM

Well an HY35 is a crap turbo just saying and a 24v lift pump there crap on the 24'vs don't supply enough fuel for much more then a tuner if that so it wouldn't be an upgrade on a VE really either,

Now stock non ic injectors will get you making about 350hp easy, A 14mm pump head is not neaded unless your going over 550hp plain n simple, if you want a respectable say you wanted between 3-400hp. NOW I've had two 1st gens 1 I broke the input shaft on the tranny from power shifting at 40 pounds boost lol, then I ppumped it n now gotta 94 p-pump, Anyway I have tuned n modded about 12 rucks, ve's and p-pumps, so heres what I would do,

Intercooler you got, HX35 with a 12cm housing will do okay but the 60mm housing from gillet is a better option though I dunno if it'll work on the baby H1C on non ic trucks, exhaust intake, timing to the head, dennyt stage 2 fuel, pin gov spring, collar off the fuel screw n about half to one a turn back from runaway, tune in the AFC get rid of the nylon spacer on the fuel pin under the diaphram, 2nd gen12v piston lift pump and a holley 9-12psi pressure regulator n you will be looking for a clutch if it's a stick if not a whole built tranny, that should put you about 350-375hp
