Turbo problem?
 

Hey guys,
I've been pushing 30 psi with my h1c and gds 60mm for about 2 weeks now.
The other day i gave it a bit of boost and the sound changed alot. It sounded like it was exhausting through my vent. Which I know it isnt.
Anyways sense the other day, any time my turbos under load around 30, I let off the fuel it has that sound.
Instead of the usual turbo release sound this sounds more tunnely with a flutter too.
Not exactly sure what it is, exhuast leak somewhere? intercooler leak?
I recorded the sound hopefully you guys will know whats up.

I should mention also, that I'm not losing any boost.

Its called compressor surge (turbo bark), it's when the charged air overcomes the exhaust gas and forces the turbine to spin the other way, although it won't spin the other way it will try and makes that fluttering sound. That happens when your getting on it hard and then let off real quick, all the air isn't going to be sucked up into the cylinder so its gotta go somewhere, and it goes back the way it came. This is not a good thing and it can cause a shaft to break. Although it doesn't happen a lot try to keep from letting off the throttle real quick under a load. You can install a diesel "BOV" to help combat this issue.

just odd how it would start sounding like that 2 weeks after?
Never heard it do that before around 30 pounds, but now it does that everytime around there.
Is there a reason it would just start doing it?

I would say your driving style is the culprit. But I can't say for sure....:c:
