injectors for P-Pump Swap
93 I/C VE shelled out on me. picked up everything to do the swap off a buddy that had a engine with a rod sticking out of the block. only question is. what do i do about the injectors as far as hooking up to the P-Pump lines? have heard you gotta put your first gen nozzles on the second gen bodies, also heard you can run your first gen injector but have to use an adapter fitting. so which is it, or is it even either one??
|
:humm: Take the injectors and lines from that other truck, too. :c:
|
i heard that the second gen sprays different and will wash down your walls
any truth to that? |
The pistons on Cummins motors are designed for the spray pattern of the injectors they are paired with. That being said, I my self, am not sure that the p pump 12 valves are a different spray pattern or just a higher pressure in witch fuel can be atomized more effectively

a 1st gen injector is a 155* spray pattern while a 2nd gen is a 145* both will work in either situation. what you will have to take into consideration is that 1st gen have a larger threads i think 9mm to the 2nd gen 7mm??? i think that is where the adaptors come into play. also the injectors will need re poped to set for the P-pump pressures.

a friend of mine p pumped his, so i asked him what he did and he said that he used his first gen nozzles and put them on the second gen bodies, with the second gen shims and spring/pencil and never had any trouble, is there any unforseen trouble that could occur for that??

you should get them all pop tested so they are equal.
|
Quick question but did you check with the dealership to see if your VE Pump falls under the recall number for full replacement?
|
actually i got it going again but still heading for the p-pump
