Power Steering Pump
Hey Guys, I drove my truck home the other night, with no problems. When i got up in the morning, went to take off and i had no power steering. I took the cap off and it was half full, but is was very foamy. IS this the power steering pump? or is it the steering gear itself?
hey i just had the same problem with my 93 d350 and i cant figure it out either. it does freez at night but i plug it in every night and one morning it did that and when i shut it off it puked some out and it was really foamy.
in the original owners manual it tells you that you have to prime the power steering pump on these old trucks and how you do so is to hold the gas pedal down 1/4 to 1/2 way down for so many seconds before taking off. i cat remember for exatly how long it takes but i will look in my owners manual later and let yall know
in the owners manual it says to depress the accelerator from1/4/ to 1/2 throttle for 5 seconds to prime the power steering pump, espeially in old weather.
this is on pg 29 close to the bottom if you still have your manual along with some other starting procedure that some may not know
