How would I go about making a replica of this?

Sheet metal aluminum a tig welder and some time,or mill it out of two halfs and weld it togeather,

You do realize that, that by itself isn't good for much? :pca1:

bladeyamaha 11-26-2012 05:58 PM

Oh, by the time I get it on, it won't be the only upgrade! :D My engineer friend and I pretty much got it figured out now, it will be tig welded and made out of 1/4 inch aluminum or stainless steel.

78fordf150ranger 11-26-2012 05:59 PM

Bc, what are you running?

bladeyamaha 11-26-2012 06:01 PM

I think I'm gonna put two inlets though. :)

78fordf150ranger 11-26-2012 06:01 PM

I would move the inlet to the middle more to make it more equal air pressure into the motor.

bladeyamaha 11-26-2012 06:03 PM

Might put three inlets, equaled out.

The biggest deal with those aftermarket intake logs is the fact that with cutting the stock/OEM integral intake log off, one now has full access to the head's intake runners for porting, etc. ;)

@ 78fordf150ranger: I run one of the Banks TwinRam feed-horns (it was cheap to buy ATM). If you're wanting to go that route, M&H makes one: M & H Inc. - Air Intakes

Know that the twin mess does nothing for adding power by itself, it's a shot at better equalizing cylinder fill that can result in more power via more efficient combustion across the cylinders, more consistent EGT across the board, etc.

If you're broke, move on and spend your money on bigger turbo(s), a camshaft, etc . . . first.

If I had to do it over and was going to invest in serious porting of the head, I'd mill the stock intake-log off, port the head and run an aftermarket log. But then, there's a number of different designs with different advantages for them too. . . . . :s:

It gets down to: How fast do you want to go? = $$$. Just add commas. :humm:

bladeyamaha 11-26-2012 07:06 PM

I'm gonna have plenty of money to go fast, and going fast is what I want to do, but plans may change but right now, making my own stuff is key.

I looked at the M&H stuff before, I have the links saved on a notepad file but not sure I want to give them my money when I can make better stuff, if I put time into it, I'm disabled, but not that disabled, I have no cartilage in my right hip or knee, to not be able to work in a shop, just don't have the amount of experience it takes to get a job doing real work in the business, I can make stuff that will work, it may not be show work but I can at least weld and my engineer friend just ordered a Tig Welder I can use anytime I want so I can practice all I want too. :)

I'm just not sure the equal length header is as good as a pulse manifold, that's a lot of air to compress before it gets to the turbo.

This is the one I'm looking at ATM.> Equal length stainless steel Cummins header
