no power NO SMOKE

Ok my brother just got a 93 w250 and it is really slow. Please dont flame me for looking for smoke because that is not the goal. I opened the afc and turned the star wheel 1 and 1/2 turns and the fuel pen doesnt look stock because it is a symetric cone and doesnt have a steep side but it doesnt look performance either because it is not all that steep and it has #70 on the bottom. fuel linkage is pulling throtle all the way. No boost leaks as far as I can tell ( I put soapy water on the boots and afc). He doesnt have gauges yet so I have no clue what boost and egt's are at. I was just expecting this to bring this truck alive and it diddnt. What sould I check next Also it is all stock so it still has the muffler and fram filter

AGAIN THIS IS NOT A MAKE MY TRUCK ROAL COAL THREAD I WAS JUST EXPECTING A LITTLE MORE FUEL

I would start by checking fuel pressure and go from there.

1993firstgennewbie 11-19-2012 10:07 PM

That's what I was gona do what should it be at

daveO 11-19-2012 10:20 PM

Should be 18-24 psi at idle, 28-36 psi at 2000 RPM with no load.

92betsy 11-20-2012 08:05 AM

With stock lift pump fuel psi is between 4-6psi on a 1st gen.

1993firstgennewbie 11-20-2012 08:51 AM

What about 2000 rpm

1stgenblowingsmoke 11-20-2012 11:21 AM

About 2psi. under a load. the ic trucks are dogs from factory. cut the muffler out n crank the fuel screw but don't forget to be carefull of rinaway

1993firstgennewbie 11-20-2012 12:41 PM

are you talking about the smoke screw cause I made it even with the lock nut and I also cranked the starwheel. Im also gona throw my denny t #2 at and see what happens

92betsy 11-20-2012 07:41 PM

Fuel screw, not smoke screw. Fuel screw can cause runaway, smoke screw can cause low boost smoke.

No Smoke is actually a good thing. :)

1993firstgennewbie 11-20-2012 10:33 PM

I realize that, no power is a bad thing

1993firstgennewbie 11-28-2012 12:43 PM

I just slapped the denny t in and It made a world of difference but Im not gona touch the truck anymore until he gets some gauges :scare2:

screw it man take the fuel pin out and through it in the trash, take off your air filter and turn up the main fuel metering untill the truck runs away and catch her with a block of wood (i would advise using a block of wood anyway, you can stick your hand in and see if you can stop it though i just dont really wanna), turn it back a half a turn and lock er down. Bring ur idle back down to 750rpm. bump the crap outa the pump.. the more advance the better right!? remove the high idle stop and pop the pump top off and put a solid rod in place of the govener spring and let her RIP:rocking: hahahaha lol who needs gauges anyway:tu:

He's talking about an aftermarket fuel pin from Denny T Performance.
