first gen not much leg room.......?

The bench seat in my 92 doesnt seem to slide back far enough. Im 5'9 and the leg room is almost cramped for me. i have checked the tracks everything eppears to be normal with nothin in the way of adjustment. any ideas of what it could be? also i have read some people using 2nd gen seats in first gens, is that swap to cure the cramped problem? anyone with suggestions please and thanks

I'm 5,10 n love my 2nd gen seats they give way more room then the bench. I can slide my seat all the way back n not be able to push in the clutch all the way. Aside from the console though I'd go to a set of ramcharger seats like I had in my 90.

I'm 6'4" and have the 2nd gen seats. It's a little tight but not much more then the original seat

Are you sure the seat is going all the way back? Just for comparison sake, my factory bench will hit the back of the cab, which is where I keep it. Granted its no Cadillac by any means, but im comfortable at 5'10".

I put the second gen seat in mine, Im 16 but im 6'0 265 ( lineman on the football team) and the second gen seat freed up a lot of room even with the boxes i have for subs behind the seat. Im still growing and there is plenty of room!

There is a small rack/shelf deal the prev owner had in there behind the seat. the shelf sits smack against the back of the cab and only sticks out maybe 4 or 5 inches. I wouldnt figure that would keep it from slidin back completely. Im still slavin away on my frame when i get time Ill check it out more thoroughly just curious if this was a common problem or not.

There is not much room that's for sure, my Dad is at least 6 foot tall and he complains about the lack of leg room in the 1st Gen, I have no problem at 5' 10".

My ext cab has plenty of leg room I haven't ridden in a reg cab in a long time so my size comparison is lacking.

Have you guys looked at 03-05 Ram SRT-10 seats? They have less depth because of it being a sport seat and you can install them further back thus giving more room.

06 Ram SRT-10 seats will work also but the center consoles on those are not seats so you would only have room for two.

Also do not forget you have forward and back but also going up and down will adjust your leg room also. Try setting wood on your seat to raise your butt up 3-4" and see how that feels in leg room. If that is comfortable with you then it's just down to making a bracket (I recommend steel plate or heavy aluminum stock) to give you a riser to the seat bracket.

I'm 6'4 and I find the legroom decent... club cab or regular. :humm:
