Get the AC Delco Remy one from O'Reilly's, it works good on mine, just make sure you bolt on the regulator before plugging it in! LOL

What Blade Said, also, make sure your getting 13 to 14.5 at the rear of alt. If you are, check your feed line (#2 wire) going to your battery. If your only 12 there, you've burned your line, theres a fusable link in there....for whatever reason.
These trucks are bulletproof, except for the getrags, and those damn fusible links.

Well, for stock they are ok....but, under heavy loads, will buckle if abused often.
One failing is the mainshaft rides high in the trans. case, often leading to overheated bearings and syncro's....the fix for this is simple, add another quart to the trans. OVER the std. amount. And run a Racing motor oil with ZDDP in it, like Valvoline20w40 or 20w50.
The fix was if a trans was lost under load when the truck was under warranty, rebuild it and do this with the oil....or convert to the NV series.
For a stock truck and up to about 300-350 horses, your fine. If your gonna hammer it with over 350 horses, the NV series is a better option.
Oh, by the way, the Getrags don't like to be lugged down low....overheats the bearings....unless you raise your fluid level....

I drain mine once a year, then fill her from within the cab by removing the shift lever!

X2, I put 2 Bottles of ZDDPlus in mine and overfilled it, now the G-Rag is much happier.

Where do u get zddplus? Is it in the oil? Or an additive

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

What is the amount of oil to put in with overfilling?

Its an additive, these guys have the best service they also sell in bigger bunches and singles, I get this> 5 ZDDPlus ZDDP Engine Oil Additive - Save your Engine! | eBay

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

I put like 11 or 12 quarts in mine. 2 bottles of ZDDPlus. You could put 3 bottles of ZDDPlus.

welp problems all done just picked my alternator up from local electrical shop it is now fully rebuilt, stepped up to a 200 amp and converted to internal regulator also known as the ''1 wire alternator''. it came with a life time warranty and only cost me $165.00 and that means if anything goes wrong- no questions asked brand new alternator is granted to me, so i spent the extra $65 it is going to be well worth it.

so im having a problem. i used the mopar external regulator that was said to be used. i am funnring my cummins and it am getting 24 volts to the battery from the charge wire to the battery from the alternator. i wired the key on power to the top terminal on the pyramid and the other wire to the other terminal on the alternator....... my question is did i do something wrong. the other thing i am wondering is.. i hooked key on power directly to the terminal on the back of the alternator that the top pyramid terminal on the regulator is hoooked to. i am confused why it didnt work??
