Getrag to nv4500?

I have a 92 250 4x4 getrag. A few weeks ago I changed the fluid in the tranny (5w30) because it wasn't wanting to go into 3rd very smooth. When I looked at the old oil I found a lot of brass shavings and ever since the oil change 4th gear shakes from 35-45 mph don't know why? I've been wanting to put an nv4500 in any way but wasn't planning on doing it so soon. My question is will I have to change the t-case too or will my current one work? And what clutch do you guys recommend? It's my dd and I plan on making 300ish HP with it eventually (as soon as I can afford to). Any help/ advice is greatly appreciated!! :tu:

You need a 2nd gen bellhousing, flywheel and starter to get the trans mounted. Cant use a 2nd gen t-case because the front shaft is on the wrong side. But I believe the 205 bolts up, you just need a splined adapter.

Here is a place that sales conversions...

That helps a lot!! Thanks :tu:. My next questions is I see all these 2wd nv4500's on Craigslist for 500-800$, what's the difference and can they be converted for 4wd use?

Im not sure, but I think the case is different. Might be able to run an adapter and different output shaft, but I havent looked at one of each side by side.

Ok thanks! Any ideas why my 4th gear would shake bad from 35-45 mph after I change the tranny oil?

Could be a bad bearing. The brass shavings are probably from the syncro's. Was there a vibration before the oil change? Are all the u-joints good?

It never did it before and the only reason I changed the oil was because it was hard to get it into 3rd but since the oil change the 4th gear problem is all I'm having....that and the clutch sucks ass. The guy I bought the truck from claims he had the tranny and clutch replaced 18 months prior to me buying it, he had no receipts to prove it so I didn't ever really take his word on it.

Alright now that I think about it 4th was sluggish but just till the turbo could get spooled up

As far as the ujoints they appear to be in good shape. But when I changed the tranny oil it looks like it has a leak but I couldn't see where the leak is, I forgot to mention that earlier.

Could have been a ghetto rebuild and they didnt replace all the damaged parts, just the basic rebuild kit. Worn parts wear out new stuff quickly.
