Fan bolt size for idler pulley

Well after a week of work I found out what a dumbass I can be. I took the dually out for its shake down only to get two miles down the road before I slung my new serpentine belt because I either didn't tighten the 6 bolts on the fan pulley or I sheared the off. I'm thinking answer number one however I am surprised all six flew off that fast but the are all gone. Now I'm hoping like hell I can repair it without taking the radiator out but it's going to be a bitch. First I need to know the size thread pitch and length of the pulley bolts so hopefully someone can help. The other need is some good karma.

Thankfully a nice young man stopped and owed me home oh and he had a 91 1st gen so we chatted and I was thankful he came by when he did. Normally something like his would just piss me off but it's more a lesson in humility that something so simple can remind you that checking and double checking isn't always good enough. Anyway if you have te sizes I'd appreciate the info. At least I met another 1st Gen fan tonight.

Nice. Uh, man I'd have to take mine off to tell you and match up elsewhere and figure it out the hard way, but I'm willing to help. It just may have to be tomorrow, I'll see what I can do. I'm disabled and have a lot of time on my hands. LOL, go figure, but I'll do it to help you, just give me tomorrow, should have it figure out by noon, best I can do, unless I get bored tonight, you might get lucky though, who knows, it just prolly won't be fun, but should not be that bad, now that I'm remembering what to do. :)

What year is yours before I start?
I can look back at the other thread though. Feeling lazy at the moment though.:(

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

Just guessing though, they are 1/4 inch fine thread,Like 20 thread rate, little suckers, the way I remember them. :)

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

Getting up, I'm gonna pull two out to keep it balanced. :)

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

1/4 grade 8 bolt-course thread rate and the stock fan bolt are almost the same size but thread rate is like 20 and seems a little bit smaller like its metric, its got a 10mm size bolt head, so, it must be metric, I can match it up tomorrow and get it exact if you want, no problem, will be going to town anyways to test out work on the truck.

Here are some pics of the gold 1/4 inch bolt I just bought at Tractor Supply its a grade 8 course thread bolt, all that for sure, just not absolutely sure about the stock size yet, but you could make an exact guess now for sure, just have to do some researching or I can match it up exactly for you tomorrow at the O'Reilly's Auto. :)

Did it anyways, It was way easy to help a fellow 1st Gen motor owner! :)

Looks like I might be finishing tonight, I got to get some sleep in tomorrow now, have a better day!

Ok, found out at Walmart, boy got some good thinking in on the way back!, Loved that, that the stock bolts have a 10mm head, are finer than 24 thread rate and not as fine as 32, they are about 1/4 big and only 1/2 inch long on the threads, they are some special bolts that's fur sho! I can only wait to go to the parts house and get an exact match from here, to help you more, but that's the best I could do tonight with getting hands on comparisons in. :w2: I'll find out more tomorrow unless you say no, got to go to town still anyways. :)

bladeyamaha - You Sir have gone above and beyond and I hope I can return the favor sometime. Thank you for the information and keep your fingers crossed this was just my poor attention to detail and I don't have to tear into it again. I'm supposed to be hitting the road tomorrow night with it. $50.00 belt shot. Thanks again
