What kind of transmission do I have????

Just got a 1989 dodge ram 4 wheel diesel with an auto in it. What kind of transmission is it and what kind of mods can it take stock

yup 727 torqueflite 3 speed. Pretty stout trannies but still leave a lot to be desired. Upgrade the torque converter n she will take more abuse. Dad had a 90 4wd auto blew the tranny 3 times due to cracked flex plates the last time he had hd torque converter n stage 2 or 3 shift kit put in n he raced done up 1c model trucks n won most of the time.
