ok thanks guys, how bought a good 4 inch straight pipe kit anyone have suggestions on which brand?

Don't bother replacing it all to 4". Just pull the muffler and put a straight pipe in. Power difference for what you're doing will be no different. The 3" will also sound more tractor like and nicer than the 4".

Exactly what they said and heres a good link to lots of info https://www.dieselbombers.com/1st-ge...en-sticky.html

I call BS. I preffer 4" on a 1st gen over 3" muffler or no muffler. also the 4" lowers egt's. Go to TV diesel n look up the diamond eye kit people love it and it costs 269 I think with free shipping in the lower 48.

thanks man. the guy i bought it from had already cut muffler out and replaced with pipe. so it was 3 inch straight pipe. it wasnt loud at all. i had to cut the exhaust off to give me access to my frame rail so i could paint it.so i am replacing the whole system downpipe and all. i have heard 4 inch straight piped 12 valves and they sound alot louder than my truck. once again thanks.

My 4in made my truck run smoother and cooler, well worth the money for it. TV diesel is were I got mine.

thepinkzepp 09-02-2012 07:33 PM

Got mine at tv diesel as well but for 250 but the 200$ gift card for 180$ :w2: go with 4in straight pipe the looks on people s faces are priceless

Not sure, in a couple of weeks, I'll be able to look at my 1st Gen and my Dad's '01 24 Valve HO 6 speed and maybe be able to tell,

I won't know how much of a difference though.:humm:

yes it will you may have to knock the studs out or drill the manifold depending on setup they came with an HX35 and an HY35 if its the HY dont bother the HX is a nice little upgrade if its a late model HX you will need a adapter for the HP oil inlet line and find a 90* adapter to come off the turbo to fit the IC pipe or to the crossover tube silicone hose adapter will work too the stock 90* off a 1st gen turbo bolts right up make sure you replace the gasket stock 1st gen down pipe bolts right up

not a super great upgrade its worth doing if you can get one for 300 or less
they will spool quicker (makes EGT's a little hotter) and flow just a little more air
but the spool is amazing over stock 1st gen especially if you have the 21cm
