innercooler questions (duramax)?

well i have a couple questions.

first, can anybody explain to me how innercoolers work?i understand the basics of what they do (as far as cooling incoming air to help performance and lower egts), but how exactly does it do this?

second, i may have access to a duramax innercooler. I am currently getting a guy to check up on it for me and see exactly what year its off of and the measurements. Is there any way this could work?

thanks

intercooler* and its also called an air-to-air exchange when your turbo spools it pushes air through the intercooler and the air hitting the front of the moving truck creates cooler air passing through the intercooler fins there fore cooling the entire intercooler and the intake air coming into the motor is cooler wich creates more power. sorry didnt know how to explain it any better. lol

When you compress air (a turbo is a compressor) it gets hot , hot air holds less oxygen than cool air . The intercooler cools the hot compressed air to regain maximum oxygen . So a diesel is good , a turbo charged diesel is better , a intercooled turbo diesel is best .
