Looking at buying first diesel

Found a '95 2500 4x4 with 170k on it. Has new beefed tranny, big open air filter, muffler and cat delete, 2 inch leveling kit, 370 injectors, rear disc brake kit, NEW BATTERIES, REMOTE START, NEW SHOCKS, NEW 10 PLY TIRES, etc... It is an ext cab long bed. Has some dings and a little rust.

Going to go test drive later this week. Being my first diesel, anything I should look out for?

Also, besides the KDP, anything thing I need to look into doing to it right away? I plan to do oil change and fuel filter like I do on everything I buy.

Would $6k be too much for such a truck?

Thanks all for the replies! Hope to be spending quite a bit of time here once I get settled into my first diesel.

Things are only worth what someone is willing to pay. 170 sounds good. But do a vin check on it. Mine has 410 k on the odometer. But title says exempt and its not real hard to roll a mechanical speedo back...

Where do you verfiy the miles with the vin at?

Maintenance records if they were done at a shop and they kept them. You can pay for a carfax, or try to make them. But if those miles are right I don't think that too high a price. But its your money pay what you think its worth. And make sure if your on a tight budget to leave some back in case something goes wrong with it right away.

as long as the tranny is good id say its a good deal

Why did they put a leveling kit on a 4x4? I wouldn't pay more than 5500 for it. I paid 4800 for my 96 with 168000 miles but I'm already going to replace the lift pump this afternoon
