HELP!! No fuel plate and no power increase.
So im pretty much a big newbie to the diesel world so bear with me. My friend and I helped another friend turn up his p-7100 pump and there was no power increase. Our friend has a 97 12 valve. it still has the EGR and it also has a bad throttle positioning sensor. It was bone stock and its straight piped. Anyways, we removed the fuel plate and my buddy turned up the star wheel as far as possible with a flat blade. We havent touched the screw on the back of the pump yet. We put it all back together, started it up and very minimal power increase prevailed. Same with the test drive. Could it be the bad TPS? Anybody else have this same problem? ALSO LET ME KNOW IF I AM POSTING IN THE WRONG FORUM. Thanks.:argh:

Is it smoking heavy? The AFC foot is probably dive bombing under where it should and causing a sh*t ton of preboost fuel and drowning out the fire, if you will. And aftermarket upgrades for more air to the charger?

The truck is bone stock. All that's done is straight piped and now the fuel plate removed and star wheel turned up but not all the way
. That's it. No other mods |
Ah, okay. So is she smoking like a train under WOT and acceleration?
|
loosen afc and move full forward then back 1/4 inch. It will smoke allot but you prob have it all the way rearward abs the afcfoot is holding fuel arm back. Also make sure fuel filter and air filter isn't stopped up.it won't make power without access to fuel.
|
I take it it is an auto. With those mods u r goin to grenade tha trans.
|
No it is not smoking like a train under WOT or acceleration, it just makes a small haze as if it were just being started up. Yes it is an auto, but there is no power gain or difference at all when taking off or while up to speed. Its pretty much like removing the fuel plate and turning up the star wheel a little bit just created a haze and that's it. No power gain at all. Does anyone think the bad TPS has anything to do with it?

12v is full mechanical, TPS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH IT. tps controls tranny shift points higher tps give you more line pressure and tps tells trans controller that higher line pressure therefore longer shift points. with your mods a blip of throttle it should burp black smoke. my manual has no tps. TPS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH ENGINE. you are not getting fuel if there is no smoke with throttle blip. no that you have forgotten tps check fuel filter, then slide afc forward then back slightly. also make sure you didnt bend then arm on shutoff valve causing it to hold partially closed.

Thats what im thinking he did...
|
well my buddy bradley is the mechanic, im pretty much a beginner. ill ask him if we bent that arm. i have a feeling we did though. if the shut off valve is the part that im thinking it is then ya we bent it trying to move it out of the way to get the afc out. the shut off valve has a plate on it with ears that line up with the same mounting holes as the afc right?
---AutoMerged DoublePost--- with throttle blip and taking off from a start and while driving with turbo spooled, only a haze prevails. |
