Temperature Gauge
Hey guys I'm 15 and just bought my first diesel a 1994 Cummins 5 speed. I dont know too much about diesels but the temerature guage on the dash bounces around. It stays under 140 for a while then it will bounces around 140 to 160. Does anyone know what causes that? I think it's the sencer, does anyone know where that is too?
Thanks |
That's all normal my friend. It's just the truck cooling itself while maintaining a good operating temperature. And that's alot of upgrades to that truck for you to be 15 and just got it haha, you do them all yourself?

Cummins engines have extremely efficient cooling systems. Unless the engine isn't under a load as it was intended for, it most likely will not get up to "temp". My 97 does the same thing, in fact I've heard later year cummins have dummy gauges.

What you're describing is the thermostat opening and closing. 100% normal. |
