Water in oil?
Hello everyone, I'm new to the site so please pardon me if I bother with any stupid questions.
I recently picked up a 97 12 valve and have been doing some work to it. When i got it, the valve lash was out of wack so I adjusted it today while my dad was washing his truck next to me. With this, I didn't realize there was a tad bit of over spray on the rocker arms while the valve covers were off. I just did an oil change about 10 miles prior to this event and wiped the oil/water over spray out real good, but should I do another oil change to be safe? or not be so concerned? I checked the dipstick and there are no "water bubbles". Any input would be appreciated. Thanks. Here is the truck; it is a 97 12 valve 5 speed. Few engine mods, few inches of lift on 40s. http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/.../CUMMINS01.jpg |
welcome to the site man
first off you arent bothering us at all and second there is no such thing as a stupid question I wouldnt worry bout this water as when you xdrive the truck and bring it up to temp any water in the oil will flash off and out the valve cover vent. No biggie |
wow that is a nice truck. :tu:

Thanks for the welcome. So far I'm liking the truck, now I realize why everyone talks about a cummins engine the way they do, haha. But thank you for the response, just trying to be cautious.

You aughta turn your barrels too. Does the truck great
|
What do you mean by turn barrels?
|
how do you like the hydro assist?
|
It's real nice with the bigger tires. Couple local guys run it in their mud trucks too. If your thinking about hydrolic steering check with your state laws because I know full hydro isn't legal in some states, if not all.

Really nice truck! Welcome the site. I to am new here and have learned tons already. Could you tell were to find details on valve adjusiments? I am sure that my 97 has never had the valve cover off and it has 180k on it. KDP had not been addressed yet either. I will be taking care of that this weekend and it might be a good time to check valves at the same time.
