Default Shutoff solenoid for 98 12V Cummins

I think I have a bad fuel shutoff solenoid in my 98 12Valve. Dealer just quoted $799.00 for it- Are you kidding me? Can they be rebuilt? Also how to know for sure it's the solenoid or the relay?

Looking for the cheap and easy fix...

$800 installed I'm sure, and book probably says its a 3 hour job when replacing the bracket. Genosgarage.com they have some of the maintenance parts as well as new solenoids.

Yea hopefully there is some money left over for some lube.
X2 on the cable though until you get a replacement.

Adjustment of solenoid - Diesel Hard Start Diagnosis

Spend some time with it before you buy a new one. You can often clean it up and even make a new rubber boot with rubber from an old bike tube and some cable ties.
