when my OFV got weak the only thing i noticed was a bad stumble while free reving.

Sounds very similar to my problem. Good fuel pressure at idle and down the road, but as soon as the engine needs tad bit of fuel, dies. What I mean is, idling down road at 30mph or so, fine. Trying to cruise at 60 and it dies right away. Fuel pressure shows fine even till it dies. However, after engine shuts down, it will restart fairly easy.

I wonder if it's not turbo related. Not enough boost causing the pump to shut down on fuel, or a bad Air fuel control diaphram (Aneroid) is a very possible?

well thanks for all the help but it looks like the pump went out. had a runaway today. :(

Im still fairly new to diesels and have a question about when a motor runs away. Ive heard that it happens every now and again and that the only way to shut the engine down is to block your airflow at the turbo. My truck has a manual cable for the shut off solinoid and so i manually open and close my fuel at the pump. If my truck were to run away, could I shut her down by closing off my fuel via cable?
