Sanden oil and freon?

How much freon does the 94 Dodge Cummins hold? And I have Ester oil, would this be a good choice, and how much oil? Thanks, Artie

Refrigerant is the more acceptable term, as freon was tied to R12. Not sure on the amount, but the oil does matter. Need to find out what compressor is on the truck.

Sanden SD7H15

Pag 46. What all are you replacing? Dryer and office tube? Compressor too?

Ester oil is for York style compressors, look kind of like lawnmower engines. Sanden compressors require pag oil.

well... It's the Sanden compressor, and it's plummbed into a 01 F350 with the Cummins spinning the compressor. This has been the worst part of the conversion! And it's last on my punch list, besides some soundproofing....

what freon are you using? the oil needs to be for what freon you use. some oil will not migrate with wrong freon.

R134a, and I will be replacing the Ford's condenser, dryer, and the Cummins compressor was on my donor trucks engine. The compressor sounds ok and is free, and the oil was clean, I didn't remove the compressor so I don't know if the system worked, or how much oil was lost? Thanks for the replies! Artie

You lose oil when you change condenser as well, I'd just evacuate everything and start with the correct amount that way you know you have enough in it. :c:

Yep, don't forget the dryer and orifice tube should be replaced if they are factory parts

Thanks, I don't know how much PAG46 to put in the system???? What does Dodge call for on a 94?

tiremann9669 03-23-2012 08:18 PM

I cant remember but the people at NAPA told me how much I needed :c:

Ill post it in the morning. Its a total of 8oz iirc split up between systems usually replacement parts have some oil. It really depends on supplier.
