This pee pump is confusing me.
So my dad has the 96 5 speed that will rev to 3200 on the highway and is a dog till it hits 2000rpm then throws you in the seat till about 2900 but will hit 3200 rpm's. He bought it this way n can't figure it out it has a light haze at WOT. We know it has a BHAF and 4" tbe that's it performance wise but has a few other BD parts like the exhaust brake, exhaust, KDP tab. It would destroy my old 90 that I had n I used to race ricers with it lol. We do know it has the tamper proof lock screw on the AFC cover but has some number engraved in the top of the pump between the DV's and timing case. OH all the part numbers on this pump have the paint scraped off. Anyone have an idea what it may be?

I'm gonna assume its not a stock charger on the truck ... what your dad needs is an afc adjustment. adjust the pre boost screw in a turn and see if that helps.

It's a stock HX35 from the looks of it and the wastegate opens at 24 psi. I'm temped to go outside n put a hose clamp on the waste gate line n see how long it takes him to notice.
---AutoMerged DoublePost--- Just an hx35 even has the silencer ring still. Attachment 38752 Attachment 38753 That's the number I was talking about that has been engraved in the casing it says AH21901 Attachment 38753 Attachment 38755 |
don't plug the wastegate thats the best way to blow that charger up. Have you checked for boost leaks? there is no reason the truck should be a dog under 2k with a hx35.

What is injection timing at?

excess drive pressure. the 1st gens have a 18 and or a 21cm housing and the HX has a 12 caa freakin boom! and an HX is a fine turbo for stockish applications.

just because they look fine doesn't mean there not leaking, you will need to rig up a boost tester to check for leaks.
