Aftermarket tach and Dakota digital dsl-1

97 cummins with factory dodge alternator i have 5" autometer gasser tach I am going to use. Has any one used the Dakota digital dsl-1 on the factory alternator if so explain hook up? Or is there an easier way to run this tach? Any info would be helpfull.:scare2:
