Guys, what's a U-joint or a carrier bearing sound like when it's going? I've got a driveline noise that's rolling-related, and sounds like a jackhammer @ about 20mph.

PLEEEEZE let it be a cheap noise.

I'm wondering too, because I have a little tick, tick, tick sound mostly noticed coasting down to a stop. It increases or decreases in tempo with ground speed. I'm thinking u-joint, but really don't know.

I will start taking it apart before it gets to the jackhammer level! :tttt:

I can't imagine what else it could be.

I bet Geddy's is a carrier bearing. Or maybe the transmission is about to come apart in some spectacular way.

Geddy, does the noise change at all go or away if you shift into neutral and let it coast?

motion-related. in-gear/out-of-gear...if it's moving, it's making noise. I'm off tomorrow, so, I can go get it investigated. I'm in an apartment, now, so I no longer have a garage. My limited skills are even more limited now.

U joint for sure, just what one lol. needle bearings are shot and are click/ticking.

Check your driveshaft center support for play in the bearing otherwise a horrible u joint.

I'm not that lucky. up on lift, turn a rear wheel. rear diff goes "clunk clunk clunk"... that won't be cheap
