Tranny shifts hard and randomly
Well the truck has been running good up until the last 500 miles or so. The transmission has always shifted a little hard since I've owned(bought it about 10k ago), but it started out not wanting to shift up and would surge at 45 mph or so. Now it doesn't like to shift up into any gear and usually I have to back off the throttle for it to shift. In addition, it'll shift down randomly if I'm going down the road. Anyone have an idea what would cause this problem all of a sudden? I have to admit I'm not familiar with automatic transmissions. Could this be a transmission control solenoid or loose bands because I have really no idea.

My trans surges at 45 mph too. Its like it brakes free or something

Tps voltage? Tight or binding throttle can indicate issues, loose bell crank.
Throttle valve adjusted correctly? Sent from my DROID BIONIC using Tapatalk |
Does your tach read correctly when you drive and your trans shifts... cps? Could cause that but I would say ts, or bands...any mods?

Well I changed out the tranny filter and it solved my problem. The fluid looked fine but it had a slight odor to it, so I figured couldn't hurt to open the pan and change the fluid and filter. That's when I found a the clogged filter. It looked like it hadn't been changed in quite a long time.
