Ello all. What all would I need to convert a 2 wheel drive manual tranny to 4 wheel drive?

 

4wd main shaft, lock ring pliers, main shaft bearing, dial indicator to measure main shaft bearing preload, 5th gear nut and socket, torque wrench 250ftlbs, 4wd output cover, 29 spline transfer case.

 

Why would I need a 5th gear nut when its a 5 speed?

 

The 5th gear nut is recommened one time use only.

 

Ok you are saying replace it in otherwords? And would I be better off looking for a 4 wheel drive?

 

Yes replace it, I also mention the main shaft bearing for replacement. How much did you get the 2wd nv4500? Due to them having a main shaft problems, I would just get a main shaft for yours and then you know its brand new. But you still need the output cover

 

Ok, well the guy wanted 1000 for it. It comes with everything to convert it he said. I just didn't know if it would be worth it
