Soot???
I have a 94 2500 auto, if a 160 pump has a 100 plate in it and slide all the way forward should it soot? Im not trying to soot on purpose i just was "testing" to make sure everything on the pump end of the engine was normal. I ask this because i made a 100 plate slide it all the way forward all i get is a puff of smoke off the line and thats it.

yep thats about it. if the fuel plate is your first mod as it was mine you are or should be quite disapointed. your engine cant rev high/fuel hard enough to give you -real- noticable gains. you do gain but not like all the hype make you believe. if you want a much more responsive truck install 3 or 4k govoner springs. hands down the best modification to a 12 valve cummins!!! it will be a totally different truck. and keep the 100 plate.

Thanks, Im looking at getting DVs and 7 hole .10 injectors next. Springs, 4k gsk, spilt horn intake and twins later down the road. and of course a TC and shift kit will have to come before all.
With a manual valve body do you control all 4 gears?? |
dont do DV's or injectors that big till you have a good set of twins in your hands. the truck will be WAY HOT! and prolly bout unusable. 5x.012 or.014 are plenty for a DD truck and can get you well into the 500-600 HP range.
and yes but i wouldnt recomend one on a DD. you will wear you shift linkage quickly and get very tired of shifting it. IF you do you that rough get a reverse manual VB so if you mess up you dont throw the truck into N or R and DESTROY lots of expensive things. my vote is not to do a manual VB unless you drag, pull, or mud race as that was a WONDERFUL advantage in the big holes back in the day. |
