Yup, I have a 96' and it came factory with a 47RE.

 

thats what i was saying, guy asked if 01 would work in 96, they are both 47re

 

I'm just saying he needs to verify by actual manufacture date or vin. Some 95 trucks were built 5/95 and called 96 yet had a rh
Or better yet take a look at the trans but don't just tell him it will work by looking at the year

As long as they are both REs you should be good to go!
