Chevy/ cummins build
I have a 78 chevy k20 that I want a cummins in bad. Should I go with a 4bt or a 12v. I found a engine out of a 97, would it work it's a 12v. Need advise on easiest ways please, Chevys got an automatic 400 turbo tranny now. Thanks all. :humm:

a 4bt would struggle to move a k20. 12v for sure. if your looking for the easiest route a 12v is a little easier install than a 24v. i wouldnt think twice about ditching the th400 behind the tranny. by the time you buy an adapter plate and everything to make it work it could get pricey. plus a 12v makes alot of torque not sure the th400 would hold up

Will a tranny ment for the 12v match the transfer case?

Last month I went to some mud bogs in upstate VT... I met a guy there who had a 4bt in a short bed K10 and he said it was extremely under powered and he wishes he went with a 6 cyl cummins...
