47RH help

alright, i recently inherited a 1995 dodge ram 2500 with the 8.0 V10, i know its a gasser but im fond of it. anyways the trans is fried, reverse, and 4th are gone, od still works, the truck will move under its own power. it was my grandfathers truck and i wanna get it back on the road instead of seein it rot in the driveway. any ideas on whether i should rebuild this tranny or just look for a whole nother trans? i also wouldnt mind makin the trans a little beefier too, i am 17, so the truck is gonna git "worked" a bit, i got good memories of hard launches and burnouts in this thing and i wanna do it myself now. any and all opinions welcome

Id suggest dropping in a NV4500... Manuals are such a more simplistic design. What you described could be a few things. But one question, you stated reverse and 4th gear are gone, but OD works, 4th gear is the overdrive gear... did you mean 3rd gear is gone?

rebuild it shouldnt cost much considering ur not putting much power through it

well, when i go up on the highway, when it goes to shift to 4th. i hear a grinding and scraping sound. and no i didnt realize that 4th and overdrive were the same gear thank you for the info tho.
