2 temp sensors?

Ok my transmission guy says its the engine coolant temp sensor is the problem making my tranny shift in and out of 4th gear but he says theres 2 sensors. he said its not the one for the gauge in the cluster its the other one. Any body know where these 2 sensors are?
Thanks for your help

Not sure how an engine temp sensor would cause your tranny not to shift. But I don't know jacksh*t when it comes to autos. The only engine temp sensor I know of is on the driver side back just below the head... see diagram below:

Ok so i got another question for you a bought a new temp sensor and its 2 wire and the one on the truck in the location that it shows in the thumbnail is a 1 wire. is there Something wrong here?

Oh and the one on the truck is 3/4" pipe thread? and the new one is only maybe 1/2".

My best guess would be you got the wrong sensor. I don't know for sure but that is what it sounds like.

Thats what i thought to but i went to the local auto store and they tried selling me the same one then i went to BWD website {Part maker} and they said it was the right part to. So i dont know gotta keep searching i guess.

I would take the one out of the block and take it to a parts house and show them this is what it looks like.
