Power differences between 94-98
I understand that the 94-98 have different power ratings, 160-215
What do they change with the engine/pumps to do this? |
A 94' - 95' Cummins with an auto transmission factory came with the 160hp pump. The 94' - 95' Cummins with a manual transmission came with the 175hp pump.
A 96' - 98' Cummins with an auto transmission came with the 180hp pump. The 96' - 98' Cummins with the manual transmission came with the 215hp pump, EXCEPT in California the manuals came with the 180hp pump. These difference in rating are determined by the pump, giving more power depending on the fuel plate or rack travel. Ie: The 215hp pump has more rack travel than the 180hp pump but can be changed with the upgraded rack plug, increases the travel. |
Thank you!

by chance is there a link to the upgraded rack plug?

This is located on the front of the pump, in between the timing case and pump. So to install this you either have to grind the case down, or move the pump back to gain enough clearance to take the factory one out and the 2095 plug in. |
does the 215 pump have different delivery valves as well?
