Starting problems

I went to start my truck this morning and it tried to turn over then immediatly quit and wouldnt even click when i turn it over my batteries are brand new and i tested them they have 13 volts so theyre good, i had a similar thing happen to me about a month ago because the previous owner installed a new starter but jimmy rigged the wires and one fell out so i got new connectors and tightned those down really good so thats not the problem either its not even making that distinct noise when you turn over the key im really lost any thoughts are appretiated i need it for work tommorow its a 95 4x4 c.t.d
thanks everyone

I think its your batteries. Something isn't making a good contact or ground. Unless its the alt but I doubt it.

check all connections .. never hurts to check multiple times ... might miss something only going over once ... have a similar prob in my 97 and it was my batt terminal were the wire splits to the starter .. bad connection inside .. i put new terminals on the cables and never had a problem again

i am gonna check every connection i don't think its the alternator it was driving fine left it over night went to start it and it clicked once then stopped and wouldn't make that noise when you turn over the key to start it i then tried to turn it over again and there was no usual noise i get when i turn the key over before i crank it up i just replaced batteries two weeks ago and battery cables and new terminals?? sucks hitching rides to work

check the relay and fuses?

Try jumping the solenoid on the starter... That will at least tell you if your starter motor works or not! If it starts that way then start chasing wires :tu:

im new to this so how do i jump the solenoid in the starter??

I think you just hook up the batteries to the starter terminals and see if it kicks out and rotates like it would if it were turning the engine over. I had this happen to me once and it turned out to be a fuse in the fuse box located in the engine bay. Can't remember the number but it should say on the lid which is the relay for the starter.

i jumped the starter i think it sparked then made a noise like it was working so i think one of the connections went bad
