#0 Fuel Plate and boost elbow Question

ok so i have an all stock 1995 cummins 2500, 47RH tranny. i wanted to add a #0 fuel plate with a boost elbow. what affects will this have on my truck? and what foes the boost elbow really do? and i do have a 35psi boost gauge and a 1600 E.G.T gauge.

This is the one i want to get.

i would just pull the plate....same thing and u get to save ur money.. the boost elbow lets less air go to the wastegate.... allowing for more boost before the wastegate opens.... just be easy on the trans....they dont like much more then stock power.

where may i find a guide to take off my plate, and if i pull it what do i put in its place? nothing?

just take the afc off and yank the plate....thats all.

you will notice a good difference....but once u get the 4k gsk and 60lb valve springs it will be a WHOLE new truck.

There's a sticky at the top of this section, I believe it tells you step by step how to remove the plate and everything, good luck :tu:

o and the 47rh hates power...so a tc and vb would be the next to save for.

turbo2332 09-05-2011 07:35 PM

i would recommend a plate if you daily drive your truck. my .02

I have seen the boost elbows and they appear to be nothin more than a brass elbow. Is this correct or is it a modified brass piece??Thanks for the help.

turbo2332 09-06-2011 04:15 PM

its a brass elbo with a set screw and a small hole in the elbow. the set screw is set to let a certain amount of air to leak through the hole and fool the wastegate on your turbo, THUS alowing the turbo to produce more boost before the wastegate can catch on PSI in its reference hose.

I am considering the banks big head git kit. its pricey but is it better than the brass elbow??
Thanks again for puttin up with my questions.

turbo2332 09-12-2011 04:37 AM

i dont have any experience with that kit. i know i went for 19 lbs of boost to 34 lbs in about 30 min with the boost elbow.

to me the boost elbow is the best bang for buck .. i had one on my 97 and it made a big difference in boost ... i had mine dialed in to only hit 32 .. thats all i needed .. and i yanked my plate out and was the best thing i ever did ... i dd it in cali trafic with no problems ... better then any plate i put in and was free ... there is a step by step in the stickys some were on how to do it .. worst case you can google .. it helped me out very much .. and also there is a diy here on how to do cheap if not free mods to the pump for a little more kick.. just be careful ... take it from some one who learned the hard way get a Torque Converter & Valve Body before you start beating on it ... if you baby like i did at first then fine ... but when you decide enough is enough and start hammering it ... it will bite you in the ass

if you look on summit racing's web site you can get the big head actuator cheaper from them and then buy that fuel plate and boost elbow on ebay and you can save a lot of money$$$$

Just make sure you have a boost gauge and pyro gauge. I keep my boost so it doesn't get over 30.

Rx7man 09-16-2011 09:27 PM

with a #10 plate, I set my boost to about 28 psi... hazes slightly at full throttle, I tightened the star wheel a lot to minimize smoke, I don't mind waiting a little for the turbo to spool though.

First i tried the boost elbow and i really didnt notice anything. Started to add more fuel and i noticed it when i get on it. Then stuiped me decided to drill my wastegate out too big and now i dont have much of anything, unless under heavy fuel then she kicks in and sings!! But such as fuel plate. i noticed, no fuel mileage with no plate. i grinded it to some what a #0 and installed the plate and noticed alittle but not much. But it doesnt help to drill your wastegate out too big either!!
