turn off headlights

on my truck the headlights turn on as soon as i turn the key over, and i want to know if there is a way (im sure its just a wire) to make it so then i can drive around with only my parking lights on. and have my headlights turn on when i pull the light switch all the way out. thanks!

I have never heard of this personally. Sounds like somebody did some undercover work on her. I would take the switch out and use a test light or multimeter to find the wire that is used for the headlights and see what is going on.

Sounds like daytime running lights to me. Found this on another site:

1994-2002 Dodge Ram I succesfully by-passed them by disconnecting the DRL moudule (drivers side fender well black box directly below the brake booster). I cut the red/orange stripe wire then cut the red/gray stripe wire connected them together and plugged the DRL module back in. I soldered/heat shrink the wires together and installed back in the factory split loom for a clean install. This should work on all 2nd generation Rams, 1994-2002.

Yeah, Canada requires them on all vehicles manufactured or imported after 1/1/90. :c:

Driving with headlights on all the time is a good idea.

But if you want you should be able to wire in a relay to get the results you are looking for.
