Looks Good!, you cannot go wrong with only $3000 for that truck. Hell, I paid $9500 for mine in about that condition. Now you are giving me the itch to convert it to SRW......but I think I will want the duals to pull my 33' 5th wheel toy hauler when desert season starts.

I LOVE the paint on that thing!!! I always like seeing DRWs converted to SRWs... :rocking:

cul8r 09-25-2011 04:00 PM

Thats all there is to a srw conversion just knock the adapters off the front and shorter wheel studs in the rear? Nice job yer truck looks awesome!

mudstomper99 09-25-2011 05:05 PM

yeah thats pretty much it and i used the stock lugs for the DRW

monster12valve 09-25-2011 07:04 PM

sick truck man ! you did a great job.:c:

cul8r 09-26-2011 09:26 AM

how much wider is the drw axle compared to the srw axle?

1AMatt 09-26-2011 04:11 PM

I think maybe a couple inches total. It is not too much, but the DRW is i little wider than the SRW.

RE: Here is my 97 Drw to SRW conversion and refurb

hey mudstomper, im thinking of doing a srw conversion on my new toy, a '96 ram 3500 with the 5.9 cummins i-6. i think ill go with 17 inch wheels, and either 35 or 37 inch tires. my question for you is, what offset are your 18's measured at? i heard that there might be some issues with going with anything bigger than factory when doing this modification, however, yours seems to be running fine. can you help a newbie out? thanks.

Jon

Ok this might sound really dumb, but have you ever heard of a game called Rigs Of Rods? cuz theres a Cummins on there with an extremely simialar paint scheme.. Looks fantastic anyhow:tu:

12vCummins94 11-04-2011 12:11 AM

WOW, SICK CONVERSION!

smokedout 11-04-2011 10:04 AM

wmeyer12valve 11-07-2011 03:46 PM

Looks sick!! I wish I had the skills (and facility) to paint mine myself! nice job though

Dodgeram2000 11-20-2011 03:41 PM

How did you paint the stock chrome grille to make it look like a sport

6BTPower 11-21-2011 11:26 AM

Nice! You got a great deal on that truck. Great job on the refurb too!

cul8r 05-10-2012 08:43 PM

You still only running a 2.5 levelling kit fender trimming to clear 37s?

mudstomper99 05-10-2012 08:51 PM

Yea that's all planning on lifting it tho

cul8r 05-11-2012 09:31 AM

Sweet still looks good tho, how much are you lifting it?

mudstomper99 05-11-2012 09:50 AM

I'm thinking 6 I have a lift from a 3rd gen I'm gonna try make work but we will see how that goes

cul8r 09-11-2012 08:22 PM

Finally finished my drw to srw conversion that was way to easy dropped on a srw box and ran stock wheels with the drw rear axle and it does stick out a little but its not obtrusive at all factory lug nut covers won't fit without shallow headed bolts on axle thanks for the inspiration!

first-gen-tough 09-25-2012 12:11 PM

I almost bought a 97 ex cab 3500 duelly 5 speed that I was gonna convert. My friend says that the duelly rear end is narrower and not wider? Im not sure verything I have read says it is wider. also are 3500 part more expensive? ex. front end parts? etc. thanks

zeliecummins22 11-22-2012 01:17 PM

awesome truck, i am planning on doing a srw conversion on my 97 dually as well, what offset are your wheels? i really like the stance of your truck
