Normal EGT temps?

Hi all! Cruising down the highway empty while doing 65mph @ 2000rpm or so my EGT's are running between 600-700 degrees. At wot I can hit 1200 degrees @35 psi boost for just a second. Once I'm up to speed my temps drop rapidly back down to 600-700. Is this normal for the mods I have? Will a 4" turbo back exhaust help?

Thanks in advance for any input.

I have about the same mods and mine runs maybe 100* over what you said under those conditions. My truck may be a little more on the tubby side being a dually.

I guess these suckers just run a little warm Lol. My buddy's 99' F350 is cranking out around 375hp and with a 6" lift, 35's, 3.73's, and a 3 1/2" turbo back exhaust with muffler, he's only running 600-700* pulling a 21' ski boat.

Wish my truck ran that cool lol

Mine will hit 1000* with the cruise set

x2 wish mine ran that cool as well 750 800 only 1/4 throttle empty on small incline!

I wonder what a 4" turbo back exhaust would do for egt's? Maybe upgrade to a true 4" outlet on the turbo and port match the manifold?

Anything to get that exhaust out quicker will help.

From the posts on this thread, looks like the trucks with bigger injectors make the heat.

It also seems we are all running stock turbos too. I'm starting to think the 3" outlet is causing too much back pressure which in turn is causing high egt's. :humm:

my truck with the mods in my sig would hit 1600egt in a blink of and eye with the hx35. i bought a super b turbo and did a test run to 90mph and the egts never went pass 1200. i am going to port my manifold take the timimg to 18 and wrap my manifold with heat wrap and put a turbo blanket on it than see what the result is.

Its as simple as more fuel than you have air for.

My egts are the way they are due to 5x.014's on an H1c. Thats with 5" exhaust so exhaust does make a difference but not enough to worry about in my opinion.
