Valve adjustment is cake to do. And O'reilly's has the gaskets for I believe $6-7 bucks each.

Check out this link on how to adjust the valves. B Series Valve Adjustment I'm going to be doing mine shortly. 268k miles on it and no idea if they have ever been adjusted.

You should be able to re-use the gaskets on the valve covers. I just did mine and it made it sound smooth, well if a 12V cummins could ever sound "smooth":humm:

Hit it good with the pressure washer and compressed air before you crack them open. You don't want to let anything fall in with the covers off.

As long as they aren't already leaking, then yes. Just be careful not to rip of tear them. They're pretty tough but I still managed to mangle one of mine in the midst of moving tools around.

Mine were leaking pretty bad too, bought a set of blue felpro gaskets from puredieselpower for $35. you could prolly find them cheaper than $6 a piece somewhere else but i was buying other stuff from them anyway. Idk if anyone else does this but i cut a strip of the insulation off the firewall right above the #6 cylinder. Seemed like i might rub up against it and knock some into the engine. Better safe then sorry:c: Took me about 2 hours to do but i was cleaning all the grease buildup off of every cover. Idk what a shop would charge but for $100 for labor and gaskets i would pay them and get it over with ... if not get crackin .010" for intake and .020" exhaust
