how much boost w/stock turbo
how much boost will a stock turbo produce. i have a #6 fuel plate the rest is stock. i will get fresh air intake and get rid of cat&muffler next( if it makes a differance). ?
it will go all the way to 50ish but does more harm than good, its best to wastegate them at or around 32-35psi
stock 12valve makes 15-20 boost and taking off cat adds 2.5
Yea i got 52 lbs of boost outa my old stocker but u gotta be carfeul way to much drive pressure
I was boosting around 56 psi. which was stupid on my part for doing it. I think thay can start coming apart around 40-45 psi. dont quote me on that, but it some where around there. I had wastegate plugged off with 100hp injectors, 10 plate, .093 lines, timing 16. 3k springs.

thank you; wastgate how much that gana cost? ya know its not easy to tow with this truck my 3/4 ton 454 get in & tow ,w/dodge need more power, then be carefull trans cant take it, must have guages ,cooling system needs modification for towing. man i love my truck but using it as a truck.? if i can figure out a solution to the cooling sys.ill be once again happy me,dog 5th wheel,& dodge anywhere but vegas.

I second the boost elbow, does the job for cheap. :rocking:
where did you guys get your elbows?
Mine was actually on the truck when I bought it. I would either check with a vender here or eBay. http://item.mobileweb.ebay.com/viewi...d=300444737856

The most i have seen on a stock 12 valve turbo is 42 psi, and the head gasket blew within a month. At that much boost, as stated above, it does more harm than good.
thanks matt, im going to get a boost elbo or make one.larger head studs&o-ringed head would be needed to handle more than 35 psi boost correct ?just lerning here thanks again.
I would say 35 psi is a safe efficient number for stock turbo, gasket, and studs. I have definitely seen people get away with much more than that though...

i hit about 30 in the 2 1998s i drive and about 38 in my 93 with hx35
i have been trying to figure out how much more boost a hx-40 witha big head waste gate will produce compared to the lasts one, and is there any way t adjusts the waste gate instead of just simply blocking it off?
20-25 stock
better to get an s300 turbo with a better wastegate and better flowing exhaust housing. There is no reason to turn up an hx35 to over 32psi as the air cannot get out easily. You end up with a pressurized box because the WG on the hx35 sucks (only wastgates 3 cylinders) and then it is further blocked by the back plate before it goes into the downpipe.
they say no more than 45psi with stock turbo:scare2:
I'm supposed to be doing the head gasket this weekend (if I can find one), I have a thread right now going wondering if Felpro gaskets are acceptable substitutes for Cummins ones if you can't get OEM.. I am running the stock turbo at about 30-35 PSI, though I usually have to back my foot out of it if I have a heavy trailer and big hills.. if I'm not towing over 4 ton it's not a problem though. I am really looking for a SuperB turbo though so I can comfortably put 40PSI into it without it coming apart
