Transmission question

Hi all! Well, so far with the mods I have listed in my sig I'm not having any issues with my trans other than the sluggish stock tq converter. My question is what upgrades would I need to reliably hold up to 400hp max? I know a Goerend trans would pretty much be bullet proof but coughing up $4300 + $1000 core charge just isn't doable in the near future. I don't drag race and I don't do pulls. I don't tow anything right now but would like to have the option.

im not very knowledgable bout a diesel auto its somewhat a different ball game but 400hp max and you just dailty driving the truck if it was me and funds were right i would look into a rebuild kit? first thing i would try is a billet single disc tc with lock up. maybe a upgraded valvebody and a shift kit.

I as well don't know a ton about auto due to me not having one but I believe sun coast makes a pretty good rebuild kit.

I don't know much about building an auto either Lol. I know how they work for the most part but they still seem like a mystery box-o-death to me Lol. I've heard so many different things and for the most part all have just confused me. I've heard everything from all I need is a quality clutch kit, valve body, and a converter to make it hold all the way to I need a billet everything $6k trans to even hope to have it last. :tttt:

6k transmission better hold 1000 hp lol :c:

Lol no jk!

Called local trans builder and got a quote of $3300 for a performance rebuild with a billet triple disk converter. Add $850 if I want a billet input. The guy has been building transmissions for 20+ years and also handles all the police department and city vehicles.

I guess if you wanna play you gotta pay. :argh: It's still hard to spend half of what I paid for the truck on just a trans.

Valve body and a tourqe converter should get you by

I'm seriously thinking about that. I was quoted $2100 by DTT for a master rebuild kit with shift kit and billet triple disk converter with lifetime warranty. So I guess the local guy is charging $1200 labor? :moon:

for 400 hp you will only want a low stall single disk converter...
