Idle issues/ Oil pressure
Cant seem to find the Idle Screw on my Truck. Also when i come to a stop my "CHECK GUAGES" light comes on and my oil pressure drops to 0! Im guessing it has to do with my idle being to LOW maybe? its idling about 600 rpm maybe a little less. Just want to know if the truck idling to low may cause the "check Gauges" light to come on?:argh:

mine idles at 500 an doesnt do that. does it die?
|
Here's a link for changing your idle speed. Hopefully it will help.
Ram Diesel Problems As far as the oil pressure deal, it sounds like your oil pressure sensor is going bad. It's a known issue on these trucks. |
No the motor doesn't die, it keeps idling as if nothing happens. The oil pressure just drops to 0 and the check guage light comes on!

X10 oil pressure sending unit $30 fix...

Idle is set too low and you likely need an oil pressure sender which was already mentioned

Anyone know if advance auto parts sells that oil sensor?
|
I couldn't find it on their website, you might call the one near you to see if they have it. Also, FWIW, I've heard of people having bad luck with parts store branded oil pressure sensors. And since it's such a pain to change, it's probably worth it to spend the little bit extra and order one of the ones from Geno's.

To replace it on a 98 you need a 1-1/16" Oil Pressure Sender Socket (long deepweld) for the new sensor. You can get that at advance auto. The old one you just break off the plastic part and use a regular 1-1/16" socket. :c::pca1::rocking: |
